A Taste of Russia

Welcome to the Russian House in Kirkenes. Here you will find samples of the best in Russian culture; literature, music and food. Maybe you will get a little wiser about Russia - a different place - after the visit.

The Datcha

The soul of the Russian people can be found by visiting a Datcha. They are scattered across the country. Even in the Russian House.

It is a snug log cabin with pickled cucumbers, samovar, grandfathers bravery medal from WW2, and of course an icon in the eastern corner.

Welcome inside. We serve Russian tea and biscuits. Welcome to the Russian national soul.

Malinki Theater

Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow is the big brother to our Malinki("little") Theather.

In our Malinki Theatre you find the gilded stucco, red velvet, and lavish chandeliers. On a huge canvas you'll see ballet dancers perform Swan Lake to Tchaikovski`s famous music while we serve you samples of the best Russian cuisine has to offer.

Welcome to the Tzar and bourgeois Russia.

The Red Bar

In the basement of the Russian House you'll find the Red Bar.

Lenin was one of the 1900 - century's most influential people. This is reflected in the walls of Red Bar, with retro posters of the Revolution and the slogans of a better future. Are you ready for the challenge?

We offer the best of Russian beer and vodka.

Lenin is worth a toast!

Our Vision

Russian House is scheduled to open autumn 2018 in the heart of Kirkenes.

The prospected house is known as "Malmklang", and it was built in 1953 as an assembly hall for the people of Kirkenes. In 2005 the building closed after a fire in the stageroom. With its distinctive architecture Malmklang is designed to be filled with Russian culture.

Kirkenes has always been Russia's best friend. In times like these it is more important than ever to continue a good dialogue with our neighbors. Knowing that knowledge and proximity makes the world a better place, we're excited to announce Russian House in Kirkenes.
